Changelog

We ship improvements to Command Established every week. Here are the biggest updates for your department, newest first.

July 2026

  1. Documents

Search finds what's inside your documents, not just their names

Global search now looks at the actual text inside files in your Documents folders—PDFs, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files, even scanned pages and photos of documents, which get read automatically with OCR. Results still respect the same folder-level access as browsing, so a search only turns up documents you'd already be allowed to open.

  2. Documents

A filing cabinet for the paperwork that isn't attached to anything else

The new Documents module gives your department a home for files that aren't tied to any single incident, apparatus, or SOP—mutual aid agreements, bylaws, meeting minutes, certificates of insurance, deeds. Organize everything into folders with per-folder access control, so an officers-only folder actually stays hidden from everyone else, drag and drop uploads for images, PDFs, Office files, and more, and deleted files sit in a 90-day trash a department owner or admin can restore from.

  3. Recruiting & Forms

A cleaner look for building application and permit forms

The application-form and permit-form question editors got a redesign: questions now collapse into compact rows and expand one at a time instead of showing everything open at once, and conditional follow-up questions nest visually under the question that triggers them—with a "When…" branch label—instead of sitting in a separate dashed panel.

  4. Inventory

Fuel log entries catch mistakes before you submit

The fuel log form now validates as you type instead of round-tripping to the server—an out-of-range gallon amount or a missing required field shows a plain-language message right on the field, and the form warns (without blocking) when a new odometer reading looks like a ten-times jump from the last one.

  5. Pre-Plans

See upcoming pre-plan reviews department-wide, not just overdue ones

The department-wide pre-plan review widget gained a Due Soon tab alongside Needs Review and Overdue, so you can see what's coming due in the next 30 days—not just what's already slipped past its review date.

  6. Calendar

Calendar is now its own sidebar item

The calendar—work orders, training, events, CRR activities, SOP and pre-plan reviews, and inventory due dates all in one view—moved out from behind a toggle inside Work Orders into its own top-level Calendar module in the sidebar.

  7. Pre-Plans

Add a phone extension to pre-plan and inspection contacts

Contact phone numbers on pre-plans and fire-inspection locations can now carry an optional extension, shown alongside the number on the overview, print, and inspection-location views.

  8. Inventory

Group inventory reports by size, manufacturer, or FSRS category

The inventory report builder can now group by Size, Manufacturer, or FSRS Category, in both the on-screen preview and the Excel/CSV export. Size and manufacturer groups merge case-insensitively so "XL" and "xl" don't split into separate rows, and FSRS Category groups now show readable labels like "SCBA Unit" instead of the raw code.

  9. Recruiting & Forms

Converting an application to personnel now pre-fills from the answers

Application forms are free-form, so useful details like date of birth, driver's license info, and emergency contacts used to get re-typed by hand when an applicant became a member. The convert-to-personnel dialog now reads the applicant's answers and suggests those fields automatically—reviewed and editable before anything is saved, and skipped entirely for anything sensitive like SSNs.

  10. Recruiting & Forms

Print a QR code for any application form

Every form on the Application Forms page now has a QR button—print a ready-to-post flyer or download a PNG for station bulletin boards and recruitment events, without opening the form editor. The page itself also traded its cards for a cleaner row list, so each form's public link, status, and created date get their own space.

  11. Personnel

Attach documents to fit test records

Respirator fit test records can now carry supporting documents—the QNFT printout, a scanned fit test card—attached right as you record the test or added later from the edit dialog, with secure, audited downloads like other personnel compliance records.

  12. SOPs

One-person policy shops can now self-approve

Small departments without a separate reviewer used to hit a wall: whoever submitted an SOP or SOG revision couldn't approve or publish it. Submitters can now name themselves as reviewer and approve their own version—behind an explicit confirmation, with every self-approval recorded in the review history.

  13. Platform

See what's in a draft before you resume it

The "unsaved changes" banner that appears when you return to a form now shows when the draft was saved and how many fields differ, plus a Review button that opens a field-by-field diff—current value struck through, draft value highlighted—so Resume and Discard are informed choices instead of guesses.

  14. Recruiting & Forms

Public application forms now carry your department's brand

The public membership application page dropped the Command Established marketing header and now uses the same branded portal shell as your permit and report pages—your department's logo and name up top, and a "Powered by Command Established" footer in place of marketing chrome.

  15. Pre-Plans

Sort and filter pre-plans by due date

The pre-plans table gained a sortable, filterable Due column, so crews can surface what's coming up or overdue, or filter straight to the plans that still need a review date assigned.

  16. Branding

A new look for Command Established

Command Established has a refreshed logo—updated everywhere it appears, including the browser tab icon, home-screen icon, and a new entry animation on the app's boot splash screen.

  17. Recruiting & Forms

Branch questions on a "No" answer too

Conditional questions on permit and recruitment application forms used to branch only on a "Yes" answer. Now a Yes/No question can also reveal a follow-up when it's answered "No"—handy for things like "If no, please explain."

  18. Incidents

NERIS submissions get their own line in Record Activity

A successful NERIS submission now shows up in an incident's Record Activity as its own "Submitted to NERIS" entry instead of blending into a generic "Updated" row, so it's easy to see which edits happened before or after the last submission.

  19. Platform

Time inputs and timestamps now show seconds

Time pickers across the app—incident timeline, work order due times, chain-of-custody, and more—now capture and display seconds instead of just hours and minutes, matching the precision of your CAD and NERIS data.

  20. Fire Investigations

Add outside investigators beyond the lead

Fire investigations can now list additional outside investigators—state fire marshal's office, ATF, contract—alongside your own personnel, not just the single Lead Investigator field. They appear in the investigation view and the printable origin & cause report.

  21. Fire Investigations

    Assign an outside lead investigator

The Lead Investigator field on a fire investigation now accepts more than your own personnel—type a name for a state fire marshal's office, ATF, or contract investigator with no user account, and they're recorded right alongside investigations led by your members, in the investigation view and printable report.

  22. Work Orders

See CRR activities on the work-orders calendar

Scheduled community risk reduction activities now show up alongside training and department events on the work-orders calendar, so everything on the schedule is visible in one place.

  23. SOPs

    Quiz-based acknowledgments & change highlights

Publishers can now require a short comprehension quiz—with questions you can auto-draft from the document and edit—before a member signs off on an SOP or SOG. And when a policy changes, the acknowledgment page highlights the publisher's notes alongside a before-and-after comparison against the exact version that member last signed, so they can focus on what actually changed.

  24. Work Orders

Work Orders is now its own module

Work Orders graduated from a tab inside Inventory into a top-level module of its own—and a work order can now attach to almost anything: a truck, a station, a pre-plan, a hydrant, an SOP, or a fire-code inspection. It also gained a writable calendar (click a day to create, drag to reschedule), automatic 3-day and overdue reminders, multi-select bulk actions, quick actions on kanban cards, and the ability to reopen a completed order. The board view's filters were redesigned around assignment too—All, Mine, and Unassigned—in place of the old priority and category chips.

  25. Search

    Filter global search with facets

Global search gained filter chips across roughly seventeen record types—personnel, pre-plans, SOPs, elections, budgets, apparatus, applications, certifications, NERIS incident type, and more—so you can narrow from a keyword to exactly the records you're after.

  26. Notifications

Your department's brand on every email

Notification emails sent on behalf of a department now carry a "Sent for" header with the department's logo—or its name as a fallback—so members and the public can tell at a glance which department a message came from.

  27. Budgets

See what's left in every budget

Each budget category now shows an Available column—budgeted minus spent—that turns red when you're over, line items link straight to their filtered expenses, and receipts or invoices attached to expenses and revenues are finally viewable and downloadable.

  28. Pre-Plans

    Scheduled pre-plan reviews

Keep pre-plans current on a schedule: set review cadences with drift-free due dates, route reminders to the assignee, and track everything from two new dashboard widgets—a department-wide overview and your personal review queue.

  29. Incidents

    Search your entire incident archive

The incidents list now pages through every incident your department has ever recorded—not just the most recent thousand—with new filters for NERIS submission status and assignee, so older calls are findable again.

June 2026

  1. ePCR

    Richer EMS patient-care capture

The EMS patient record gained a lot this month: procedures performed via one-tap, category-grouped palettes; chief complaint and clinical narrative; patient demographics with driver's-license autofill; and coded NEMSIS provider impressions—with voice dictation available throughout.

  2. Recruiting & Forms

    Smarter recruiting & permit forms

The recruitment and permit form builders became far more capable: show a question only when an earlier answer matches, add phone, yes/no, signature, and encrypted-SSN field types, and import an existing application PDF that gets pre-filled into a form for you to review.

  3. Elections & Voting

    Run elections and motions in-app

Hold officer elections and vote on motions entirely in Command Established, with a full draft-to-certified lifecycle, single-choice or multi-seat races, a true secret ballot or a recorded roll-call, and quorum and tie safeguards before a result can be certified.

  4. Report Requests

Public records requests, end to end

Citizens can request copies of incident and fire reports through a public portal with email verification and a status page, while your staff work them from a review queue—or a drag-and-drop board—with incident matching, redaction, online or manual payments, and secure, audited delivery.

  5. Certifications

    Track member certifications

A new Certifications module under Training gives you a configurable catalog of certificate types, self-serve uploads from members with AI-assisted metadata parsing and a training-officer approval queue, a department-wide roster, bulk import, and a daily sweep that flags credentials before they expire.
